St Andrews pre-school had a fantastic family fun day at the garden on Wednesday 21st August. We hosted 41 parents, carers and their children who happily got stuck into a variety of activities : we met a slow worm who was named poppy, a frog they called Blanche and a ladybird they named Brigid and the children also did some great crafting and some super paintings. The bbq sausages also went down very well 👏

Thanks so much to the National Lottery Community Fund
which helped fund the event and everyone, including 16 volunteers, who helped the day go so smoothly and finally, our super organiser, Irene.
Produce
The late summer sunshine and heat have given us a bumper harvest of tomatoes, chard, cucumbers, beans and the pumpkins and squashes are coming on nicely for the Autumn.

Activities:
Our first ever Beginners’ Carpentry course started in mid September with five attendees learning skills including tool use, types of wood, cuts, fixings and finishes, and they’ll all get to make a simple piece to take home. The course lasts for 6 weeks.
And we have an organic gardening course starting in October for four Wednesdays. Jules will be taking the group through soils & composting; year round planning and growing, and dealing with weeds and disease. For more information: development@streamwalkgarden.com
And we have a date for our annual Pumpkin Party – it’s Saturday October 26th so put that date in your diary and look out for more information on our social media.
Back again soon.
